Van Johnson, the retired chief executive officer of Sutter Health, has been named to the board of directors of VisICU, a Baltimore-based provider of health information technology systems for remote monitoring of intensive-care patients.
Johnson served 10 years as president and CEO of Sutter Health, during which time the 26-hospital chain became, in 2002, a VisICU customer.
In a news release, Johnson said his service on the VisICU board affords "an opportunity for me to help advance a technology that I believe is revolutionary in saving lives and improving ICU care, both in metropolitan areas and in (a) rural area where it enables families to stay close to home when caring for a hospitalized loved one."
