Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson is looking into whether St. Paul Radiology tried to collect payment from patients after failing to bill insurance companies and government programs in time.
Swanson filed a motion in Ramsey County District Court Aug. 10 to compel the group to hand over records. The motion cites testimony from patients and a former employee who said that St. Paul failed to bill third-party payers and then tried to wring payment from patients, sometimes using lawsuits and collection agencies years after the visits. The employee, according to the attorney generals news release, said she was instructed to tell patients theyd failed to supply their insurance information.
