Hospitals hired roughly 8,600 employees in July, a one-month increase of 0.2% that nudged total hospital employment to 4.53 million workers, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.
The figures are preliminary and seasonally adjusted. For the 12 months that ended in July, hospitals added about 104,900 employees, a 2.4% increase.
Physician office employment rose by 8,800 employees in July to 2.22 million workers, after falling by 1,900 workers in June, the preliminary figures show. Julys one-month increase was a 0.4% increase from June. For the year ended in July, physician offices added 66,400 workers, a 3.1% increase. -- by Melanie Evans
