No. 2: Use anger in a positive way to get results. In a talk I gave recently, I discussed anger as a positive force. I described people who have been driven out of their organizations only to get a job with other companies and become great successes. A good friend told me that he was so angry with the way he was treated at his former job that he made up his mind he would do everything he could to stand out in his next job. And he did just that by working hard and long hours and becoming one of the best salespeople in the company. He admitted to me that if it hadnt been for the anger he felt about his former employer, he probably wouldnt have achieved the success he did in his new job.
No. 3: It starts with a dream. Of course, you have to have a vision of what you want in life. For that, you need to know yourself, which takes some thought, some introspection. Dont waste time; start now to be everything you want to be.
No. 4: Eliminate the confusion. Keep your eye on the ball. Dont go off in several directions as many people do. Its hard enough to achieve one great thing.
No. 5: The greater the struggle, the greater the victory. Life is a tough business filled with all sorts of risks and pitfalls. Some days are better than others, and it is sometimes hard to keep your perspective on where you are headed. Remember, anything worthwhile demands sacrifice and discipline.
No. 6: Follow your passion instead of the dollar. Many people who seek to maximize their income at all costs cant stand their jobs. They end up being disillusioned and trapped in a career in which they dont fit. Do what you love and dont pretend to be someone you arent.
No. 7: Excuses will kill your dream. Justifications such as I dont have enough time, Im too old or Im too young should be discarded before you go on or you wont go anywhere.
No. 8: Prepare for your dream. You might get an advanced degree or spend time learning more about what it is you want to do.
No. 9: Focus on your dream and never quit. You want something bad enough you give it everything you have, and 90% of the time you will win.
No. 10: Always have a dream. Even after you have succeeded at something, there is always another goal ahead. This is what keeps us motivated throughout our lives. Never rest on your laurels, because you are only limiting yourself.
People do it every day.
