I work for an insurance company and know how people just expect all their care to be taken care of.
We offer incentives for people to keep healthy, which many people do not take advantage of. Americans are spoiled; it is easier to be a couch potato than to exercise.
We see what wonderful results some expensive pill will have in treating our illness and we run to the doctor for the quick fix. Or, people run to the emergency room because it is easier to do that than take care of themselves.
We have been given health insurance without deductibles and copays and very little out-of-pocket payments for premiums, and we expect it to continue. Well, the deep pockets have run dry. Universal healthcare is not the answer. People have to take responsibility for their own health.
