What was left unsaid was the fact that the the entire health information technology endeavor will now be controlled and managed in a way that best suits the interests of the most powerful players in the electronic medical record/HIT community. The interests of the healthcare community will play second fiddle to the financial interests of those corporations that sell EMRs. Years down the road, it will become obvious that this should have not been allowed to happen, but, by then, entrenched political and corporate interests will make it impossible to fix the problem.
