Michael Carleton has been named chief information officer and deputy assistant secretary for information technology within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Resources and Technology. Carleton will oversee IT resources, program systems and infrastructure, a news release said.
Carleton was hired by HHS in 1979, and served as deputy director of the Office of Information Resources Management and CIO for the Office of the Secretary. He has worked for the past seven years at the General Services Administration and served as the agency's CIO.
He replaces Charles Havekost, who resigned earlier this month to take a position with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. -- by Andis Robeznieks / HITS staff writer
