MedAssets, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based company specializing in healthcare-operations management, announced Wednesday it will acquire the healthcare software and services company MD-X Solutions for an undisclosed amount.
Acquisition of the Mahwah, N.J.-based MD-X, which was founded in 2000 and currently has 200 employees, comes on the heels of MedAssets purchase last month of Richardson, Texas-based XactiMed, a company that produces claims-management tools for healthcare providers.
The MD-X purchase will expand MedAssets product line to include comprehensive claims-denial management software, point-of-service collections systems, a revenue recovery method for claims inappropriately paid at PPO-discount rates, and the ability to handle totally outsourced business operations for hospitals, according to a MedAssets news release.
Under the terms of the deal, Ronald Davi will continue as MD-Xs chairman and chief executive officer, a MedAssets spokeswoman said. The deal is expected to close in July. -- by Shawn Rhea
