Catholic Healthcare West, San Francisco, has signed a nonbinding letter of intent to sell 231-bed San Gabriel (Calif.) Valley Medical Center to AHMC Healthcare, Alhambra, Calif., Catholic Healthcare West said. Financial terms were not disclosed. Once an agreement is negotiated, it will be submitted to the California attorney generals office for approval, as required by law. The attorney generals review could take up to 120 days. For-profit AHMC Healthcare was formed to purchase four California hospitals from Tenet Healthcare Corp., Dallas, in 2004. The company operates six hospitals, all in California. -- by Vince Galloro
