The nine-hospital, Tampa Bay, Fla.-based BayCare Health System has appointed Bruce Flareau to the new position of chief medical informatics officer. Flareau, 47, will be responsible for implementation of BayCare's electronic medical record system and engage physicians in the redesign and standardization of the health system's clinical practices.
Most recently, Flareau had been vice president of medical education at Morton Plant Mease Health Care in Clearwater, Fla., and was recently recognized with the Morton Plant Mease 2007 Physician "Excellence in Medicine" award. -- by Andis Robeznieks / HITS staff writer
