Healthcare enterprise information technology vendor Medical Information Technology, or Meditech, of Westwood, Mass., has acquired one of its long-term partners, Patient Care Technologies, Atlanta, a developer of software for use by patients, clinicians and agencies in home healthcare.
Patient Care Technologies was founded in 1991 at the Georgia Institute of Technology's Advanced Technology Development Center. It launched its first product, a point-of-care clinical record for home health a year later, according to its Web site. Patient Care Technologies is employee-owned and is listed as a partner company on Meditech's Web site. Patient Care Technologies has been a Meditech partner since the inception of the Georgia company. Meditech also is privately held.
Meditech spokesman Paul Berthiaume confirmed the acquisition and said further information about the transaction would be released later today.
