Providence Health & Services, Seattle, named John Kenagy as vice president and chief information officer of the 27-hospital, not-for-profit system. He takes over for Mike Butler, Providence's chief financial officer, who had served as interim CIO since 2005.
Most recently, Kenagy was CIO of Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, for eight years. Prior to that, he served 13 years as CIO for the Department of Veterans Affairs' Desert Pacific Healthcare Network, Long Beach, Calif. Kenagy is also an assistant professor in the department of medical informatics and clinical epidemiology at OHSU's School of Medicine.
