Sajjad Yacoob has been appointed to the newly created position of chief medical information officer at 283-bed Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Yacoob, 44, had been serving as the hospital's director of medical informatics for the past six years. In 1992, Yacoob completed his internship at Childrens Hospital and his residency immediately after that. He was selected to serve as the hospital's chief resident in 1994. Following his training, Yacoob became an attending physician in the Division of General Pediatrics.
Yacoob chairs the hospital's medical records committee, clinical information technology portfolio and CPR committees. He also is co-program director for the Pediatric Clerkship at the Keck School of Medicine. -- by Andis Robeznieks / HITS staff writer
