St. Davids HealthCare, Austin, Texas, said C. David Huffstutler will be chief executive officer of the joint ventures St. Davids Medical Center, Austin, effective May 1. St. Davids HealthCare is a joint venture of for-profit HCA, Nashville, and not-for-profit St. Davids HealthCare System, Austin, that includes seven hospitals.
Huffstutler, 49, has been CEO of Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, Houston, since the summer of 2004. He worked for HCAs Gulf Coast division, based in Houston, from April 1997 through July 2004, including more than three years as CEO of HCAs 150-bed Kingwood (Texas) Medical Center. Huffstutler started his career in 1981 with the Methodist Health Care System in Houstonnow known as the Methodist Hospital Systemspending 16 years in various system-level positions.
Huffstutler replaces Cole Eslyn, who left 296-bed St. Davids Medical Center to become CEO of HCAs 554-bed Oklahoma University Medical Center, Oklahoma City. -- by Vince Galloro
