Learning about the specific needs of the community is a primary focus for Adena Regional Medical Center this year.
Mark Shuter, president and chief executive officer, announced at the annual meeting plans to create an electronic medical-records system for the entire community by partnering with primary-care physicians in the area. The partnershipexpecting to grow by 50%will be a $9 million investment that Shuter said will be well worth it.
"We're going to be able to know the patterns of illness in our community. ... We think this is a bold step for our healthcare system," he said.
The idea is to use the trend data to determine what needs are in the community and adjust services at the hospital to reflect those.
