John Hill was appointed president and CEO of HCA-HealthOnes Medical Center of Aurora and Centennial Medical Plaza facilities in Colorado. He will start at the end of April. Hill, 36, succeeds Sylvia Young, 45, who was promoted to HCA market president for Sunrise Health hospitals in the Las Vegas Valley. Hill is COO at the Medical City Dallas Hospital, the flagship facility of HCAs North Texas Division. Joseph Horton was named to the new position of senior vice president at Intermountain Healthcare, Salt Lake City. Horton, 52, will assume his new duties overseeing the systems hospitals in May. Horton, currently CEO of Intermountains Primary Childrens Medical Center, will be replaced by Joseph Mott, 50, COO at the hospital. Robert Grossman, a radiologist, has been named dean of the New York University School of Medicine and CEO of NYU Hospitals Center in New York, effective July 1, succeeding Robert Glickman, who has served as dean and CEO since 1998. Glickman will continue as a professor of medicine at NYU and practice gastroenterology at the VA Medical Center New York, after a sabbatical. Grossman, 59, is currently the Louis Marx professor of radiology, chairman of the department of radiology and a professor at the NYU School of Medicine. Wayne Osten was named senior vice president and director of New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System, succeeding Arthur Klein, who left the New York system last year to become senior vice president and chief physician officer at Lifespan health system, Providence, R.I. Klein also is now associate dean for strategic planning and special projects at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Osten, 57, was vice president for system development at New York-Presbyterian. William Showalter was named to the new position of COO of Mercy Information Systems Division, the consolidated information technology division of Sisters of Mercy Health System, Chesterfield, Mo., effective April 16, said spokeswoman Barb Meyer. Showalter comes to the job from Fairview Health Services, Minneapolis, where he served as vice president and CIO. Kevin Morrison, the information systems director at Fairview will serve as interim CIO, according to spokesman Ryan Davenport.

Irene Cumming has been appointed president and CEO of the Oak Brook, Ill.-based University HealthSystem Consortium, an alliance of 97 academic medical centers with 153 affiliate hospitals. Cumming, 59, president and CEO of the University of Kansas Hospital Authority, replaces Bob Baker, who announced his retirement last year. Cumming will join the consortium on July 2 and will be replaced at the Kansas hospital by its COO, Bob Page, 49.
