Kenneth Braithwaite II was named senior vice president of the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, effective March 12, and working out of the HAPs Delaware Valley Healthcare Council offices in Philadelphia.
Braithwaite, 46, will have leadership and day-to-day responsibility in coordinating southeastern Pennsylvania hospitals activities and issues. He will also work on key statewide issues such as disaster preparedness, physician relations and hospital community benefit.
From 2002 to 2007, Braithwaite was vice president of public and government affairs for Ascension Health in Washington. Prior to that, he was vice president of advocacy and government relations for St. Thomas Health System in Nashville.
From 1997 through 2000, he was executive and state director to U.S. Sen. Arlen Spector (R-Pa.). A U.S. Navy veteran and pilot, he is a captain in the Navy Reserve and last month was nominated by President Bush for appointment to the grade of rear admiral, which he will assume in October. -- by Cinda Becker
