Mercy Health System of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, named Diana Smalley as its next president and chief executive officer, effective April 2. She will also serve as president and chief executive officer of Mercy Health Center.
Smalley, 55, succeeds Michael Packnett, who left the system in April 2006 to accept the president and CEO positions at Parkview Health, Fort Wayne, Ind In the interim, Jeffrey Johnston, Mercys chief operating officer, has managed day-to-day operations, said Nancy Woodard, a hospital spokeswoman. For the past 10 years, Smalley held leadership positions at Alegent Health, Omaha. And from 1997 until 2005, she served as senior executive and vice president of operations.
Smalley, who began her career in nursing, has a masters degree in public health from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Mercy Health System of Oklahoma includes Mercy Health Center, Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore and Mercy Health Network, a group of integrated primary care physician clinics in the Oklahoma City area. The system also co-sponsors the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in partnership with Oklahoma Cardiovascular Associates. -- by Jessica Zigmond
