The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology today released its proposed 2007 criteria and certification test script for ambulatory electronic health records. It also opened a 14-day public comment period on the revised criteria and certification test.
The amended criteria and test take into account changes recommended during a previous public-comment period, and the new criteria will take effect May 1. Changes from last years certification criteria include new interoperability requirements for electronically sending prescriptions and receiving laboratory test results.
On Feb. 16, CCHIT will also open a public comment period on the second draft of its inpatient EHR certification requirements. Comments will be taken through March 16. Materials will be posted on cchit.org.
CCHIT officials will also answer questions on its future certification plans during a town hall meeting, 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. CST, Feb. 27, during the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society conference in New Orleans. -- by Andis Robeznieks
