Sunrise Health has appointed Sylvia Young, 45, to the role of market president for HCAs Sunrise Health hospitals in the Las Vegas Valley, including Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, which, including Sunrise Childrens Hospital, has 588 beds total. Sunrise has two other campuses in the area: 139-bed Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center and 235-bed MountainView Hospital. Young will also succeed Brian Robinson, 48, as chief executive officer of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Childrens Hospital, and will start March 5.
Most recently, Young worked at HCA/HealthONE as CEO and president of the Medical Center of Aurora (Colo.) and the Centennial (Colo.) Medical Plaza since 1998. She served as chief operating officer for those institutions from 1995 to 1998.
A news release issued by the Medical Center of Aurora and Centennial Medical Plaza stated that a replacement for Young would be named within the next 30 days.
While in Colorado, Young served as chairwoman of the Aurora Economic Development Council and the Aurora Chamber of Commerce boards, as well as holding leadership positions with the Community College of Aurora and other local organizations. In 2003, she was named Businesswoman of the Year by the Women's Vision Foundation in Denver. -- by Andis Robeznieks
