Disease-management vendor LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, South San Francisco, named William Popik its new chief medical officer. He succeeds Meredith Mathews, who resigned to pursue other opportunities. Popik, a physician, comes to LifeMasters after serving six years as chief medical officer of Aetna. Prior to that, he was senior vice president and national medical director for Cigna Corp. Popik is currently chairman of the trade group Disease Management Association America. Popik's age was not provided.
Founded in 1994, privately held LifeMasters provides disease-management services to insurers, large employers and government agencies.
