Tenet Healthcare Corp., Dallas, replaced Chief Operating Officer Reynold Jennings with Stephen Newman, M.D. Jennings, 60, will remain with Tenet through July as vice chairman and will have a consulting arrangement with Tenet after he retires. Newman, 56, has most recently led Tenet’s California region, which includes 17 hospitals in California and one in Nebraska. He led Tenet’s former Gulf States region from 1999 through 2003. Before joining Tenet, Newman worked for Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp., Nashville, in Kentucky and for Touro Infirmary, New Orleans. Newman says his experience as a practicing physician will help his efforts to make Tenet hospitals more attractive to physicians. According to a Tenet securities filing, Newman’s base salary is $700,000.
