I strongly agree with the idea of full corporate name disclosure (Enough with the alphabet soup! Daily Dialogue, Jan. 29). However the choice of VHA is an interesting one. Voluntary Hospitals of America announced in the early to mid-1990s that it would no longer use Voluntary Hospitals of America nomenclature, but would simply use the acronym VHA.
Unfortunately, even on VHA's own Web site, there are more acronyms than organization names.
What is a person to do?

The reader who was exasperated that the Daily Dose didn't spell out VHA in reporting a recent company announcement should have no fear. VHA is not an acronym, and hasn't been for 13 years. Modern Healthcare does a consistently good job of getting our name right.
