Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Chicago, and Wolters Kluwer Health, Conshohocken, Pa., have reached an agreement whereby Wolters Kluwer Health will provide clinical content to users of Allscripts' electronic health-record solutions.
The new agreement, announced today, expands on an existing alliance between Allscripts, a vendor of EHR systems, repackaged pharmaceuticals and electronic-detailing services to the pharmaceutical industry, and Wolters Kluwer Health, a publisher of healthcare content and a data miner and marketer of prescription drug information for the pharmaceutical industry, the companies said.
Last week, Allscripts announced the formation of a coalition of companies that included Wolters Kluwer Health to provide free, Web-based electronic-prescribing services to physicians, targeting small offices, where healthcare information-technology adoption has lagged. Under the latest agreement, Wolters Kluwer Health, a division of Amsterdam-based Wolters Kluwer, will integrate its services with Allscripts IT products and will help Allscripts and its customers develop customized clinical documentation templates, order sets, care plans and best practices for the Allscripts stable of EHR products.
