Cook Childrens Health Care System, Fort Worth, Texas, said its chief executive officer, Russell Tolman, plans to retire, and the system has appointed a search committee to name a successor. Tolman, 62, has agreed to stay on until a successor has been named, and firm dates related to the transition will be determined in the search process, Cook Childrens said in a written statement. Tolman will mark his 25th year at Cook Childrens in April. The system includes 248-bed Cook Childrens Medical Center, a home-health group, a physician network and a health plan. A spokeswoman said the nationwide search will include both internal and external candidates. -- by Jessica Zigmond
