Butler (Pa.) Health System named Ken DeFurio as its president and chief executive officer. DeFurio, 42, had been serving as interim CEO of the 248-bed system, which owns one hospital, since November 2006 when Joseph Stewart retired. Born at Butler Hospital, DeFurio began his career there in 1986 as a respiratory therapist, then left for the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He returned to Butler in 1989 and joined its administrative team in 1996. Most recently he served as senior vice president of operations and chief operating officer. -- by Cinda Becker
