With this report, Modern Healthcare joins the Commonwealth Fund in an expanded version of the funds ongoing Healthcare Opinion Leaders Survey.
This online poll is designed to highlight perspectives on the most timely health policy issues from a panel of the nations leading hospital systems, physician and health plan executives, as well as policymakers and healthcare purchasers.
The expanded survey, the ninth in a series, is administered four times annually by Harris Interactive, New York. This first survey of 2007 looks at congressional priorities for the coming years. Later this year we will report on the results of surveys on the State Childrens Health Insurance Program, healthcare quality and transparency of pricing and quality data.
On pages 26 and 27, two key healthcare policymakers weigh in on how these issues may play out for both parties in the 110th Congress. They are Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.), the new chairman of the House Ways and Means health subcommittee, and Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), now ranking minority member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
