Trinity Health, Novi, Mich., acquired 23-bed Oakland (Neb.) Memorial Hospital through a Trinity subsidiary, Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa. Trinity has managed the critical-access hospital for the Burt County (Neb.) hospital district since 2000. The district owed Trinity money, which the system wrote off in exchange for the hospital, said Tim Fischer, the hospitals chief executive officer, who will continue in that position. The deal also included two family-practice clinics. The hospital was renamed Oakland Mercy Hospital. Trinity, a Catholic system, now owns 31 hospitals in eight states. -- by Mark Taylor
