The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and four-hospital Virtua Health, Marlton, N.J., signed a strategic learning partnership agreement -- the first time the university, founded in 1821 as the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, has teamed up with a regional healthcare organization. The agreement will allow university students to receive training at Virtua facilities, including in physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychology and pharmacy. The organizations also said they hope to extend university clinical trials to Virtua patients. They also plan to develop public-health initiatives to raise awareness about disease and prevention. -- by Cinda Becker
