Psychiatric Solutions, Franklin, Tenn., acquired 86-bed Three Rivers Behavioral Health, Columbia, S.C., and named Three Rivers co-founder Andy Hanner as president of its South Carolina division. Financial terms werent disclosed, and at deadline, representatives of both companies were unavailable for comment. Three Rivers recently was awarded a certificate of need for an additional 32 beds, which will make it the largest inpatient psychiatric facility in the state when the expansion is completed in the second half of 2007, Psychiatric Solutions said in a news release. The acquisition follows the companys announcement late last month that it agreed to buy 15-hospital Horizon Health Corp., Lewisville, Texas, for $426 million, including the assumption of debt. Psychiatric Solutions said it intends to continue evaluating other potential acquisitions. The company operates 75 owned or leased inpatient behavioral-health facilities in 29 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. -- by Jessica Zigmond
