A New York commission is due to issue a report Nov. 28 proposing a reconfiguration of the states healthcare system to better allocate resources. The report could include recommendations to close some hospitals, nursing homes or other healthcare facilities. In a report released Nov. 20, the commission made broad recommendations for reform, saying the state should reduce barriers to enrollment in public health programs and should consider privatizing hospitals operated by the State University of New York.
