Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Health System, Gainesville, filed for certificate-of-need approval to build a $209 million, 100-bed replacement hospital. The facility, to be located about 20 miles from the main campus in a fast-growing area, would replace an existing 100-bed satellite hospital about a mile from the main campus. The 418-bed not-for-profit system includes the main facility, the satellite campus and two long-term-care centers. -- by Michael Romano
