Don Schoen has been elected chairman of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Societys Electronic Health Record Vendors Association, representing the first transition of leadership for the association since it was established in 2002.Schoen, chief executive officer for EHR provider MediNotes Corp. in West Des Moines, Iowa, is succeeding inaugural chairwoman Charlene Underwood, director of government and industry affairs for global healthcare supplier Siemens Medical Solutions. He will be responsible for working with leaders in the EHR market, with a goal to promote faster adoption of the technology with hospitals and physicians offices. My election as chairman reinforces the associations ideal of giving equal voice to small and large ambulatory and enterprise vendors, Schoen said in a statement.
