Ryan Howard from Practice Fusion did providers and payers
a great favor by pointing out what I believe is a scam
regarding interoperability. The big health information
systems vendors could care less about interoperability.
They want to continue milking their proprietary systems.
Why would the Healthcare Information and Management
Systems Society collaborate by establishing bogus
standards for interoperability? Because they use the dues
from the big software companies to set up offices around
the world and feather their own nests.
Other beneficiaries of this rip off are EMR companies.
They lead you to believe automating physicians' offices
is the holy grail. That is true only if different vendor
systems can interoperate. Dr. David Brailer is one of the few to identify this stumbling block and state this publicly.
Ryan Howard, thank you. In the words of one of the
talking heads, you are a "great American."
