I read Andis Robeznieks' article about the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology. We believe CCHIT is a scam. We have a lot of discussion at EMRupdate.com.
CCHIT does nothing to improve the patient care. It has to do with market share and dominance. Per general consensus by readers at EMRupdate.com, CCHIT wants to "cull the herd" and eliminate competition. It increases the costs for everybody.
It costs about $200,000 for a vendor to get certified for programming changes.
