Hospital chains Tenet Healthcare Corp. and Vanguard Health Systems will release quarterly earnings on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9, respectively. So far, most for-profit hospital chains have reported higher bad-debt expense and lower earnings for the quarter ended Sept. 30. Meanwhile, rehabilitation and surgery-center chain HealthSouth Corp. will release third-quarter earnings Nov. 9. In a preview, Tenet said rising bad debt and lower admissions will contribute to a third-quarter loss of between $82 million and $92 million. Vanguard, which began its fiscal 2007 on July 1 and will report first-quarter earnings, has not previewed its results.
