Thomas Frist III, the son of HCA co-founder Thomas Frist Jr., has resigned from the board of Triad Hospitals, Plano, Texas, the company said in a securities filing. Frist III has been a member of Triads board since 1999, when the company was spun off from HCA. No reason was given for his departure. Frist III is the managing member of Frist Capital, Nashville. He also is an investor in the planned $33 billion leveraged buyout of HCA, Nashville. He owned 2.4% of HCA as of Aug. 31, including his interest in some stock controlled by his family, but not necessarily owned directly by Frist III, according to an HCA securities filing. If the buyout is completed, Frist III would own 7.8% of the company through his stake in Frisco, an investment partnership controlled by the Frist family, the filing said. -- by Vince Galloro
