St. John Hospital & Medical Center, Detroit, named its board chairman, David Stephens, as its interim president and appointed the boards vice chairman, Douglas Blatt, as its chairman. As president, Stephens, a former banking industry executive, replaces Mark Taylor, who left to become president at 389-bed Genesys Regional Medical Center, Grand Blanc, Mich. Both hospitals are affiliated with Ascension Health. The 607-bed St. John also named its chief financial officer, Christopher Palazzolo, as its chief operating officer and said it will begin a search for a new CFO.
