Cardinal Health, Dublin, Ohio, said it will buy Care Fusion, McLean, Va., which makes patient identification systems, for undisclosed terms. The deal is expected to close by the end of the month. Care Fusion makes a wireless, bar-code-based system. Cardinal is a pharmaceutical distributor and supply chain management firm. With the acquisition, Cardinal can now track all forms of medicine from the moment they arrive at the hospital until they are administered to patients, a Cardinal official said in a news release. The acquisition also bolsters our healthcare solutions and furthers our strategy to capture data as a byproduct of care. -- by Andis Robeznieks
