The Delaware Health Information Network awarded a six-year contract to Medicity,Salt Lake City , to build a statewide health information exchange. The company will team with Perot Systems Corp., Plano , Texas , on the project. The contract is valued at up to $24.5 million. The first phase of the project -- involving three hospitals, some physician offices and a clinical laboratory network -- is expected to be operational within six to nine months. The initial focus will be on allowing providers to obtain lab results electronically, said Paula Roy, executive director of the state's Health Care Commission, which oversees the network.
