The University of California at Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, named Ann Madden Rice as its new chief executive officer, effective in October. Rice, now chief operating officer at 646-bed University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, will replace Robert Chason at 526-bed UC Davis. Chason retired April 1 after four years as the hospital's CEO. In her new position, Rice will receive an annual salary of $495,000 and a potential bonus of up to $99,000. The medical center, part of the UC Davis Health System, has an annual operating budget of $900 million. -- by Laura B. Benko
