Community Mercy Health Partners, Springfield, Ohio, named George Miller Jr., 54, as its president and chief executive officer, effective Sept. 5. Miller, now CEO at 160-bed Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee, Ill., will succeed Andrew McCulloch, who resigned as Community Mercy's CEO in March. Miller also will become senior vice president at Community Mercy's parent, Catholic Healthcare Partners, Cincinnati. Community Mercy was formed in 2004 when Springfield's only two acute-care hospitals, 204-bed Community Hospital and 158-bed Mercy Medical Center, agreed to pool assets after several failed merger attempts. The system plans to consolidate both hospitals in a $285 million replacement hospital slated for completion in 2011. -- by Mark Taylor
