Information technology giant IBM, Armonk, N.Y., has announced it has acquired privately held Webify Solutions of Austin, Texas, a developer of software and services for building service-oriented architectures, or SOA, for customers in the healthcare, insurance, banking and telecommunication industries.
Robert LeBlanc, general manager of IBM WebSphere Software, said in a news release the acquisition will better help insurance and healthcare customers use SOA to solve business problems unique to their industries.
"Customers in different industries are solving different business problems. Healthcare companies need to comply with HIPAA regulations while insurance companies are seeking to streamline claims processing," LeBlanc said.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
