Troy, Mich.-based CareTech Solutions, a healthcare-technology and information-management company serving the hospital industry, has named Claudia Birkenshaw vice president of the company's Revenue Cycle Solutions division. "Revenue cycle management is a key piece of the puzzle in helping hospitals reduce costs and increase efficiency, and we're pleased to add Claudia's expertise to our team," said CareTech President and CEO Jim Giordano in a news release. "Claudia's creative approach to revenue cycle management will provide our clients with the tactics and strategies to improve their revenue recovery and cash flow -- all while reducing costs associated with these processes."
Birkenshaw, 55, has worked in hospital-patient accounting management for 20 years and is the co-founder and vice president of a healthcare revenue cycle consulting firm, PFS KnowledgeTrek. Before joining CareTech she was director of patient accounts for Health Revenue Assurance Associates and director of patient accounts for four-hospital Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, Mich. Birkenshaw, who earned a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration and a master's of science in administration at Central Michigan University, is the author of UB-92 Handbook for Hospital Billing: A Reference and Training Tool for Efficient Operations in Health Care Facilities for the American Hospital Association.
