New York awarded $52.9 million in grants to 26 regional healthcare networks across the state as part of a health information-technology initiative to help expand the use of technology in the healthcare system and improve patient care. The funding was provided under the Health Care Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers to help advance IT and restructure the healthcare delivery system. Also under HEAL NY, Gov. George Pataki announced the availability of more than $269 million in grants for hospitals and nursing homes to help reconfigure and right-size their healthcare facilities.
