Richard Johnston has been elected chairman of the board of directors for Picis, a Wakefield, Mass.-based healthcare IT company specializing in automating procedures used in the operating room, emergency department and intensive-care unit.
Johnston is a partner at Camden Partner Holdings, a Baltimore private equity firm, and has been an investor representative with Picis since 1997 and a board member since 2005. He previously worked as director and vice president of investments at the Hillman Co., an investment holding company. From 1979 to 2003, he served as chairman of the West Penn Allegheny Health System and its predecessors.
As Picis chairman, Johnston replaces Bernard Giroud, the former president of Intel Europe. Giroud and Picis Chief Executive Officer Todd Cozzens will now serve as the board vice chairmen.
