The American Health Information Community, a group created to advise HHS on information technology issues, approved recommendations that federal agencies and departments use their healthcare-related contracts to promote the use of IT standards approved by the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel. AHIC also accepted several other recommendations, including some aimed resolving privacy and security issues related to the exchange of laboratory data.
