Hospital employment rose 0.2% to 4.4 million in March, an increase of 8,400 workers compared with the previous month, according to seasonally adjusted data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In the 12 months that ended in March, hospitals added 84,000 workers, an increase of 1.2%. Physician office employment grew 0.3%, or 5,600 workers, in March, to a total of 2.2 million. In the 12 months, physician office employment climbed 3.9%, an increase of 80,100 workers. All figures are preliminary. -- by Melanie Evans
