Clarian Health Partners, Indianapolis, will build a 150-bed hospital in Lafayette, Ind., at a total cost of nearly $170 million, as part of a joint venture with Arnett HealthSystem, a 138-physician group practice in Lafayette. Clarian will own a majority stake in the venture. The system also operates two Indianapolis-area hospitals in which physicians have a minority stake. Arnett's 61,000-member health plan and the practice's existing services, including a surgery center now under construction and a range of outpatient facilities, will become part of the joint venture. Clarian said the joint venture also will build on a clinical affiliation between Clarian and the Indiana School of Medicine. Forty Arnett physicians train medical students at the school's education center in Lafayette.
