The American Health Information Community, a federally chartered commission charged with accelerating widespread adoption of health information technology, named four permanent directors. Karen Bell, an internist who previously worked at Partners HealthCare, Boston, will head the group's office of health IT adoption. Kelly Cronin, a senior adviser to CMS Administrator Mark McClellan, was named director of the office of programs and coordination. Jodi Daniel, who worked on e-prescribing standards for the CMS and was senior counsel for health IT for HHS' general counsel, will lead the office of policy and research. John Loonsk, a physician and formerly director of informatics at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was named to head the office of interoperability and standards. -- by Mark Taylor
